TM
Welcome To

You are capable, you are worthy, you are so incredibly brave, and I am so very proud of you. You have already taken the biggest leap of faith—you had weight loss surgery and made it to the “losers bench”. You’ve invested in yourself in a BIG way, babe. Not many people choose to step up and show up for themselves in the ways you have. I know how much this weight loss surgery journey means to you. It means everything to me too. And this decision takes SO much work. Real blood, sweat, and tears—and anyone who judges you and says that you’re taking the “easy way out” doesn’t have a clue what they’re saying.

First off, I just want to say this...

Hello, my beautiful Bariatric Babe!
I know you feel like you're failing. But trust me Babe, you're not.

No babe, you won’t. The simple fact that you’re reading this shows that you aren’t failing. You only fail when you stop trying.

“I feel like I’ve tried everything & I’m going to fail again.”

You try so hard to process everything and sort through the daily struggles. Between the food tracking, feeling restricted, not knowing how to plan your workouts and, most importantly, feeling so alone—it’s no wonder you’re feeling lost and overwhelmed.

You’re starting to really worry. Thinking about those couple extra bites after each meal—thinking you could stretch your stomach— is scaring the hell out of you. And as the old habits creep back in, the detrimental thoughts do too…

But you’re still struggling most days…

I just wished there was somewhere I could go to get the nutrition support I needed, have my workouts planned for me, work through my emotional eating, and connect with other people who genuinely cared (unlike all the Facebook support groups I eventually left). And that's how the T.R.I.B.E.™ was born! The T.R.I.B.E.™ is for anyone on their WLS journey and literally everything you could ever need for guidance and support! We are a community lead by bariatric patients, so trust me when I say, we get it. We know the struggle. And we are so excited to welcome you to our T.R.I.B.E.™

After having my surgery I soon realized how little support there was for people in the Bariatric CommunitY

Can you relate?

what members are saying

YES, and here’s why: no matter where you are in your journey, you deserve the support and resources from people who just get it. Because there are so many things people don’t tell you about post-op life. For starters: we’re not supposed to keep up this post-op diet forever, and that misconception feeds our feelings of failure.

But you know what, babe? It’s okay to have carbs! It’s possible to go out to restaurants with your friends AND order with confidence. It’s possible to not feel guilty anymore for not being “perfect”. And a life where you don’t fear failure is so much closer than you think.

“Jamie has been a miracle worker. My anxiety with food is totally gone. I’m an emotional binge eater, but through working with Jamie I’ve been able to take the power away from food. I love how the program was able to be customized to me. I started the program with snacks because I needed help with that first, then went into meal prep help. I never thought I’d be in a place where I ever trusted myself. I learned coping mechanisms and that there are no “good” or “bad” foods. Such a great experience. I feel so grateful and blessed!”

Weight and food relationship struggles are all too familiar to this soon-to-be Ph.D. Columbia University graduate. Melissa’s studies focus on fueling for exercise, and the motivators and barriers to post-op exercise. Although Melissa hasn’t had WLS, she’s a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and is very passionate about helping other babes who struggle with their weight. She leads our regain support group; and without Melissa, our support group on maintaining your culture after weight loss surgery wouldn’t be possible. Samantha’s just happy to be here—her words! This journey hasn’t been easy for Samantha; after her VSG surgery in December 2016, Sam’s lack of resources held her back from creating good habits and forming the perfect bariatric plate. After working 1:1 with Jamie for over a year, she has mastered Jamie's journaling method, eats veggies and ROCKS the food scale. Sam leads our Sunday morning support group and our bariatric book club (book nerds, unite!), and loves to share her story to help other babes succeed. Sam's a lover of traveling, reading, photography and art history.

Briana had her VSG surgery in April 2021, and is enjoying life as a “clean slate”. Everyday she’s learning new things about her mind and body, and is so grateful to Jamie and this incredible program. The wealth of resources, support by the other leaders and T.R.I.B.E. members, and putting in the work has led to fantastic results for Bri. Now, she can help members in the newly post-op and pre-op support groups achieve the same results. Wondering where you can find Bri off-screen? You can catch her making magic at Disney World or supporting local arts in Central Florida on weekends.

Sam loves sharing her story with others in the WLS community, and is discovering other ways she can help this community. It’s not just a convenient last name!

Mikayla struggled with her weight in high school. She had gastric bypass RNY in March 2013, but WLS was seen differently back then. The support groups were filled with mostly older women, those who identify as women, and nonbinary/non-gender conforming people that couldn’t relate to her circumstances; and in her personal life, Mikayla only had one person as a support system. She made choices that didn’t support her overall goal, but she’s learning from that. She’s lost 150 pounds at the most, and has regained 50 pounds since having her 2 adorable post-op babies. Now, Mikayla leads our Momma support group, and our support group for bariatric babes 5+ years post-op.

Natalie had RNY in March of 2019 and have since lost and maintained over 100+lb weight loss. Natalie first joined the T.R.I.B.E. during the holiday season of 2021. She is the first to admit she was "highly skeptical" of what the T.R.I.B.E. could offer her. To her surprise, she shares with others the T.R.I.B.E. and it's meal plate method changed her life, as did all the support. She since has become a T.R.I.B.E. leader in hopes to support and inspire others. Natalie is a retired classically trained chef and she now helps our T.R.I.B.E. members meal plan and cook delicious meals after surgery!

After 3 years of TTC unsuccessfully, zero medical answers, and a year of pandemic weight added on, I finally decided to start my WLS journey. I had RNY gastric bypass in Nov. of 2021 and am elated with my decision and my progress so far. I am so happy to have found the TRIBE and to be able to continue this journey with a community of science-backed and inclusive people.

As a physical therapist, movement is literally a way of life for me. I have so many patients and friends who share stories of other medical professionals who have either disregarded their pain or fears related to movement and exercise or outright dismissed them as a factor of their weight. My goal as a TRIBE leader is to help each of you on your own journey of inner strength and to help chip away at medical myths and stereotype-induced fears of exercise, movement, and advocacy.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST & SUPPORT GROUP LEADER

Meet Tori

Bariatric surgery helped me lose weight but I had to face my shame, heal my trauma, set boundaries with my loved ones and work, add my needs to the priority list, find new coping skills that weren't food, form a relationship with movement, feel my feelings (ew), and start loving myself for me.

I didn't do it alone. I joined T.R.I.B.E. one week post-op and a few months later started working 1:1 with Me and Jamie. This group has had my back since the very beginning. One of my goals is to give back to the community that supported me throughout my first year, celebrated every win, cried with me over my losses, and taught me how to give myself grace. I am thrilled to be joining T.R.I.B.E. leadership and can't wait to see what the next steps of this journey bring.

She has lost 100 pounds and is a few months in to maintaining that loss. Julie a runner before WLS surgery has now started strength training and most recently CrossFit. She has a passion for helping others be as healthy as they can be. She is a firm believer that knowledge is not enough for this journey, everyone needs support and community to help them reach their goals.

The satisfaction of achieving your bariatric goals is priceless, babe.

To answer your first question - YES, I’m a Registered Dietitian who also has had weight loss surgery! A dietitian who struggles with food and her weight? Kind of sounds contradictory, doesn’t it?

Anyways, I had VSG in 2017. Since then I lost 112lbs and I’ve maintained 95-100 lbs of that initial loss for almost 2 years now, which I like to think is pretty cool! Even though I’m a dietitian, I struggled my WHOLE life with my weight. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 and was over 200lbs by the time I was 9.

I remember when I was deciding to have my surgery I felt so scared and overwhelmed. It was crazy to me actually, how little support there was both before and after my surgery. I felt so alone. I also remember thinking, as I was handed a binder filled with post op nutrition guidelines “Gosh, this is so overwhelming and frustrating! I have my degree in nutrition and this is hard to wrap my head around. How the heck do people who don’t have the education I’ve had make this work?”

I’m Jamie Mills!

  • “Oh great, another diet plan that’s not going to work for me. I don’t want to start something just to fail at it again.”
  • “Ugh, here comes another dietitian to scold me for my food choices. My RD at my bariatric center was so discouraging—is this going to be the same thing?”
  • “I know in my heart I can’t do this alone anymore. I’m so scared I’m going to gain all my weight back if I don’t do something.”

  • “I’m scared of investing more time and money into something new again. I’ve already tried every diet under the sun, is this really going to be what I need this time?”

Good news: it’s totally OKAY to be hesitant to try something new and have these questions.

Now let me guess, I’m sure you’re probably thinking…

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all, babe! With a generic meal plan, there’s no accountability to put in the work, and you may still struggle with food and your weight. In the T.R.I.B.E.™ Membership, my Bariatric Meal Plate process equips you with the long-term skills to feel confident in building a healthy plate and empowered in your food choices. This helped me so much after weight loss surgery, and continues to help my 1:1 clients!

The T.R.I.B.E.™ supports all babes on their weight loss and weight loss surgery journeys. Anyone who wants to heal their relationship with food, and is ready to put in the work for long-term success, is a perfect fit for the T.R.I.B.E.™ Whether you’re recently post-op, or it’s been years since your WLS, or you haven’t even had surgery yet—the T.R.I.B.E.™ will absolutely help you.

ABSOLUTELY! VSG is becoming increasingly popular amongst the bariatric surgeries, which is why so many members of the T.R.I.B.E.™ have had VSG. But ALL pre- and post-op women, those who identify as women, and nonbinary/non-gender conforming people from ALL bariatric surgeries are welcome (VSG, RNY, lap band, duodenal switch, you name it!). As a Registered Dietitian, I’m familiar with everything—and my bariatric meal plate method can be customized to any surgery type.

Anyone pre- or post-op can! My videos are done in stages, so you know exactly which stage you should be on based on your level of restriction. In general, most post-op bariatric babes can’t incorporate full well-rounded meals until at least 9+ months post-op (but this varies greatly from person to person!) Again, you must always check with your bariatric surgeon and dietitian before changing your diet post-op.

We don’t offer refunds, so I strongly recommend reading through the whole page so you know what to expect. Depending on the membership plan you select, you will be automatically re-billed so long as you continue to be a T.R.I.B.E.™ member. As a member, you have access to the proprietary. You’re free to cancel at any time, but I’ll be sad to see you go. As long as you cancel before the billing period, you will not be charged for that month or future months.

A schedule is provided every month with dates for our live Q&As, guest expert calls, support groups and workouts! Dates will vary each month to accommodate multiple schedules. If you can’t make it, no worries! You can submit your questions and concerns before we go live, and everything will be recorded and saved, so you can go back and watch it later. We typically have around 20 live support group calls each month and they are held from 12pm-9pm in EST Sunday-Saturday. Please note, support group calls are not recorded to protect our members' privacy.

No, you’re locked in, babe! As long as you continue to be a T.R.I.B.E.™ member, the price will stay the same. If you cancel your membership and choose to come back later, I can’t guarantee the price will be as low as it is now. The T.R.I.B.E.™ has so much to offer—we’re always adding more resources, support, and materials to the membership—and this is the lowest price the membership will ever be!

Not quite. The structure of these programs is very different, which is why I created the T.R.I.B.E.™! It’s my goal to give you support, guidance, and reliable information for your weight loss journey. The method I use in my 1:1 coaching program is what you see in the videos, guides, and workbooks I give you.

Definitely not, babe. You should continue to follow your surgeon's guidelines and plan. Any information you learn or acquire in the membership should always be brought back and discussed with your own bariatric team. It’s important that they continue to be in charge of all your medical and nutritional care post-op, and it’s important to go to your routine checkups and lab draws. The T.R.I.B.E.™ is not meant to replace or substitute medical or nutrition advice from your bariatric team. Joining the T.R.I.B.E.™ is not a substitute for seeing a doctor, dietitian, therapist, or any other professional advice.

Just like our bariatric tools, this program only works as hard as you do! I so badly wish I could swoop in and do the work for you, babe. But I can’t. The resources and tools we provide are incredible and AMAZING, but they only “work” and get you the results you’re looking for if you’re holding yourself accountable and doing the work. Everything in the T.R.I.B.E.™ is tried-and-true methods that have been so helpful for me on my bariatric journey. I’ve heard the same rigid rules in the doctor’s office. I’ve felt the same feelings of failure, anxiety, shame, and loneliness. It took hard work to keep going—and with the support of my fellow T.R.I.B.E.™ leaders, I found the skills to empower myself and feel confident in my food and exercise choices. That’s why I started the T.R.I.B.E.™: to help babes like you, so you don’t have to feel lost in the dark. And you won’t find a membership like this to deliver the resources, support and community that we provide—I’m so confident that the T.R.I.B.E.™ is exactly what you need to be successful on your journey and reach your goals.

In Facebook support groups, oftentimes there is a lot of confusing and misguided information. That won’t be happening here. The T.R.I.B.E.™ Membership is a community, a support group hub, a one-stop-shop for bariatric videos, guides and workbooks, meal recipes, snack and coffee recipes, guest expert calls, live Q&As, and workouts. The T.R.I.B.E™ is unlike any other membership out there. We offer a wealth of information, resources, and support from certified professionals and other babes that have all gone through weight loss surgery— and it’s all in one place!

No worries, babe! We were all pre-op at one point. Whether you’re pre-op, 4 months post-op, or 4 years post-op, there is a place for you in the T.R.I.B.E.™ In the T.R.I.B.E.™, we support and encourage one another on our bariatric journeys, no matter which part of the journey you’re on.

Totally babe! I was nervous too when I first started connecting with other weight loss surgery babes. But we are all here to support and encourage each other to find our tribe, if you will. It’s my hope that regardless of whatever judgment or hardships you are facing in your daily life, that the T.R.I.B.E.™ becomes a safe space for you to feel included, accepted, and hopefully find your best friends!

As long as you’re a T.R.I.B.E.™ member, you can always access the materials!

For sure! This is your T.R.I.B.E.™ too, babe. While some topics are already on the agenda (and there are a lot!), your input is greatly valued. We’ll send you surveys throughout your membership to give you the opportunity to tell us what topics you’d like us to cover—that way, you’ll get everything you need to be successful!

Absolutely! Being a member of the T.R.I.B.E.™ is the perfect place to be while you wait for 1:1 coaching spots to open up. This way, you get a head start on learning my method, can ask questions, and will receive support from a whole community of babes who are working towards similar goals!

Epic wins bariatric babes experience in the membership may be shared on Instagram to provide inspiration to the bariatric community. But don’t worry babe, I would never share any identifying information on social media or any other public platform without your consent or permission. Anything said or shared in the T.R.I.B.E.™ is safe, confidential and your privacy will be respected.

Absolutely! We would love to have you with us! Currently in the T.R.I.B.E.™, we have members from all over the world, including: the U.S. Canada, Australia, Israel, Ireland, and the UK! Please note, support group calls are typically from 12pm-9pm in EST Sunday-Saturday.

“I joined the T.R.I.B.E. when I was a couple months post-op because I found I wasn't getting the post-op support from my surgeon that I wanted. While the surgery was great and my medical care was awesome, the emotional support and food support wasn't there. The T.R.I.B.E. has been tremendously helpful in (a) keeping me on track (I've lost 35" and 15+ BMI points since joining, in keeping with my post-op expectations) and (b) providing a supportive and encouraging community of other individuals dealing with the same. I would highly recommend the T.R.I.B.E. (and Jamie!) to others, as it's the best tool in my bariatric toolkit!”

“I was hesitant to join the T.R.I.B.E. at first because I thought that it was more money than I wanted to spend compared to a copay at the doctors office. I think that what changed for me is knowing that the doctor's office was a one and done deal and I figured I would sign up for one month of the T.R.I.B.E. and see what I thought since I didn’t have to commit to any specific time. I decided I was worth it and I went through all the work to have surgery so I am worth battling this regain. I love that everyone in the T.R.I.B.E. has walked the walk and can truly relate to bariatric patients - both pre-op and post-op. I joined because I wanted to get the right support and help with knocking off my regain. I am a work in progress but I have hope and I am starting to notice a slight shift in my mindset. This is such a supportive group and fun! There’s lots of support which really hits a lot of areas where I can use some support. I have also become friends with some of the members outside of just the chat and support group calls. The support here is better than anywhere else. Lots of people offering suggestions, empathy etc. It’s a breath of fresh air to find people who really can relate to your struggles and are open and honest about them - including T.R.I.B.E. leaders. I’m so satisfied with the support and support groups. Also tons of materials to help. I no longer feel hopeless and like a failure. While I have a way to go I feel like I will actually get back on track. I would recommend the T.R.I.B.E. to anyone—and for anyone hesitant to join, I would tell them, even if you join for just one month, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
