Bariatric Friendly Shamrock Shake

Hey Babe! Sometimes we need to get a little creative when it comes to protein shakes after weight loss surgery. Trust me, I get it! While hitting your protein goals is very important post-WLS, so is enjoying life!

It’s now March, which is the season of fast-food holiday themed shakes and I don’t know about you, but I want to participate in a way that makes me feel good. This is why I am coming to you today with my rendition of a bariatric friendly Protein Shamrock Shake!

I will never forget the excitement of going through the drive-through this time of year and getting my shamrock shake as a kid. After learning what the ingredients were, I knew I could make it more bariatric friendly!

I love topping mine with some sugar-free whipped cream and some fun sprinkles when I have them!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 medium avocado
  • 1/2 of vanilla Fairlife protein shake (or flavor of choice)
  • 6-8 ice cubes
  • 1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 cup frozen spinach
  • Optional: add 1-3 drops of green food coloring

Directions:

  1. Combine the avocado, protein shake, peppermint extract and spinach in a blender and pulse until blended and creamy
  2. If you would like to make it more green, add some green food coloring
